Hi! I'm not very experienced with apps and midi, but this seems like the best place to get some assistanse. I'm planning to use my iPad live, in addition to my hardware keyboards. But the new Syntronik-app from IK Multimedia is causing me trouble. Currently I'm using BandHelper, MidiFire, Sampletank and Syntronik. No problems with ST, but Syntronik is another beast. I need to have both active, to switch using the setlist-feature of bandhelper and some simple sceens in MidiFire. But Syntronik seems to respond to every midi-message i'm trying to route to ST. Under Settings you are supposed to select a MIDI channel and I quote: "MIDI data will be received on this channel only". But I think this is only used for selecting Multis when executing a program change. In MidiFire i've made a connection from my iRig Midi output via a Channel Strip to Sampletank input. I use channel 2 to play an instrument. Any idea how I can stop Syntronik from interfering when I wish to hear ST only?

Hi birdey , That sounds like Syntronik is reacting to MIDI events that are coming in from the iRig directly. What channel is your external keyboard set to? I think to set this up you would need to set the channel of the keyboard to something that neither SampleTank nor Syntronik are set to react to. Then in MidiFire use a channel strip in front of both the SampleTank and Syntronik virtual ports to remap the keyboard channel to whatever channel(s) they are configured to listen to. Of course, if there is a 'feature' that exists in Syntronik where the MIDI channel selection is non-functional, then you'd need to let IK know. Easy way to test this is simply set your keyboard channel to 16 and (you don't need MidiFire running) see if Syntronik insists on sounding even when the channels do not match. (Assuming Syntronik is not configured for channel 16!) Regards, Nic.

Hi Nic,
Thanks for your swift reply. I've now tested out the Syntronik-app like you suggested and it turns out that it responds to midi data on every channel. The same applies for program change messages which select multies. So I wonder what this Select Midi channel - Settings actually does.
Anyway, I've written a message to the IK Multimedia support and I'm looking forward to their explanation. I'll keep the thread updated.
Regards
