Hello Nic,
I play MIDI guitar and I use an IPhone with monophonic pitch to midi in ThumbJam. Also I wrote streambyter script to change patches in BS16 when I play some silent notes. So this IPhone became a standalone "multi effect pedal" as it can make any sound and sound selection is controlled by the guitar itself. Now I think to improve this. Is it possible to set BPM in a synth based on notes I play (or may be a single dedicated note) so that delay or modulation sounds in sync. with my playing ?
regards, Erik

Is it possible to set BPM in a synth based on notes I play (or may be a single dedicated note) so that delay or modulation sounds in sync. with my playing ?In the process of producing the video below which might be of interest if you haven't seen it already, I did some experimentation with this myself. What I ended up doing was to convert the notes from the guitar to a single tap tempo event driving the MidiFire Dynamic Clock, which in turn was setting the BPM of the connected sound controllers. In one case, the remote controller could not be controlled via clock, but could be controlled via tap tempo. In this case, I put another module after the clock that sent out a tap tempo message to this unit every 96 (whole note) ticks. So, yes it is possible. To just set the tempo with the one specific note, you just need to learn that event for the tap tempo in the clock module. To set the tempo with the playing of any note, then you need a Stream Byter module before the clock that is converting all (or some) of the incoming notes to the clock's learnt/set tap event. Regards, Nic.

That video is incredibly cool and shows the power of streambyter module. I found all i needed for my tests in the scenes club in the "clock tools" scene
Unfortunately changing resonance of the filter and some other MIDI CCs and parameters in sync with BPM does not sound as good as I expected So I am looking at another ways to use MIDI to enhance my sound. Did anybody try to implement some arpeggio algorithm, and do you think it may be useful ?
