I may be missing something obvious but here is my issue anyway.
Currently using an IPAD2, connected to a novation lauchpad driving external synth and some ipad softsynth apps ( minimoog, sunrizer etc...)
I'm using midibridge to remap the notes from the launchpad and send them out to all the synth. My issue is as soon as toggle between apps (using the four finger swipe method ), the launchpad stops responding, and it seems the only way to get going again is to unplug the launchpad midi controller usb and re-inserting it. Suddenly, midibridge detects it again and I'm back in business.
Did I set it up incorrectly ?
Also in the midibridge scene mode : what would be the difference between connecting the launchpad straight to each individual app as opposed to routing everything through midibridge, then telling all the app to use midibridge as midi input. Does it matter ? any performance difference etc... ?
Thanks and best regards.
Omar

What version of iOS and MidiBridge are you running? I have heard of some MIDI controllers being disconnected on app foregrounding/backgrounding in some versions of iOS6 although I was not able to reproduce that.
I have a launchpad (S) that I can test with. Could you give me a definite case (ie. which apps are involved in the switch) where the launchpad vanishes? Maybe I can reproduce.
As for your second question - if you are rewriting notes then you probably want to do the latter so that the apps don't pick up your original notes. Routing through MidiBridge does add a small amount of latency, but this is usually imperceptible. If you want to manage MIDI routings centrally and/or change routings on the fly with scenes then you need to pass everything through MidiBridge in that case too. If you were not using scenes or modules then you can connect each app directly to the hardware MIDI port.
Regards, Nic.

Thanks for your response, I'm running IOS 6.1.3, midibridge 1.51 Looks like your suggestion fixed it. Running all my controllers ( launchpad and nanokontrol ) into midibridge then using midibridge as midi input for all soft synth did the trick. No more launchpad falling asleep when moving from one app to another. I don't understand why that it worked, but I'll take it... I feel more confident in my setup now. Cheers

I'm just guessing, but maybe one of those apps is doing something with CoreMIDI on the devices it is listening to when backgrounded or foregrounded and if it is not listening to the hardware device anymore everything stays put.
