Hi, I'm a keyboardist and I'm a little new to Midibridge. My gigging setup is a bit complex. I have 2 "controllers," a Korg Kronos and a Prophet 12. I also have a rack with 3 synth modules inside of it. All of it is glued together via MIDI with an iConnectMIDI4+. The Kronos is my Master Controller and I use SetList Maker on the iPad to send automated program changes to it, which sets whatever sounds I need on each synth. It's a dance band and most of the time I have zero time in between songs to fiddle with things like manual program changes or settings, so I automate as much as possible.
The problem I have is that the Prophet 12 only transmits on one channel (16 in my case) and the synths in my rack all listen on specific channels (7,8,9). I can use the Kronos to allow myself to play each of the rack synths just fine (I can use Karma to redirect midi channels to whatever I want). The Prophet, on the other hand, doesn't do that. the iConnectMIDI device can do channel redirection, but it's not in any way automatable (i.e. it can't store setups that can be stepped through via midi program change). So my Prophet has been relegated to playing just internal sounds and the Kronos sounds.
I downloaded MidiBridge a while back but never did it. Last night it dawned on me, however, that I might be able to use it to do a channel remap (and save each setup as a different "scene". Each of the ports on the iConnect show up inside of MidiBridge. I tried to connect the Prophet port to the port with my Moog Slim Phatty and tried to use Holy Mapper to map Channel 16-> Channel 8. It didn't work, however. So I shut that off and then tried the Holy Mapper (same setup) on the receive side of the equation. No luck. When I play the prophet, both sides light up and flash green, it just seems to ignore the channel remap.
Does this type of setup actually work? Or am I relegated to only being able to do channel translations and such between controllers and iOS apps? I don't (currently) use any iOS synths in my setup. Like I said, I'm pretty new to actually using it, so I'm not sure if I'm just way off base. I can't seem to find anything specific to my type of setup in the documentation.
