Hi,
A little background:
Trying to use an iPad to provide some of the core functionality of my laptop-based setup when the laptop/attached audio/MIDI interface is not practical for certain gigs.
Existing Functionality: MIDI Guitar Controller, transmitting in MONO mode, Ch 1-6 on strings 1-6.
I use strings 5 & 6 (A & low E) as 'bass strings', selectable using a momentary footswitch which generates a MIDI cc. Any synths I want to use for bass sounds are listening on Ch5
My current (laptop)software, depending on the state of the switch/cc, either:
passes Ch5 and blocks Ch6 (for A-string bass), or blocks Ch5, then rechannelizes Ch6 to Ch5(for E-string bass)
I know I could accomplish this in MIDIBridge with Scenes and Streambyter, etc., but switching global scenes is probably not gonna work, because: A.) There will be a LOT of other MIDI stuff (i.e.arpeggiators, MIDI CC LFO, sequencers, etc) passing through MIDI Bridge all the time. B.) That footswitch is pretty 'busy' during a typical song.
I'm guessing changing scenes would be too disruptive to all of the clocked MIDI data, sustained notes, etc, passing through MIDI Bridge at the moment of a scene change.
Any thoughts? I'm thinking increased granularity of module control via MIDI and/or being able to switch Streambyter rulesets for a specific module on the fly via MIDI (maybe a MIDI learn function for these things...) might be something worthwhile if you're willing to add it.
Thanks again for the closest thing in IOS to MIDI-Ox. Great job.

Hi forestcat, You might find that scene switching is OK. It's pretty fast and atomic in that the next MIDI event is not looked at until the scene has switched. I reckon it would be worth trying out at least. Compared to audio, MIDI is pretty sparse, even with clock running. Regards, Nic.

Does scene switching automatically/internally send any MIDI commands like AllNotesOff, etc?

Nothing uncontrollably automatic - you can set things up using the program changer to trigger events via stream byter on scene change though if you want that. Bit tricky, but I can describe this in detail (tomorrow my time) if that's of interest.
Regards, Nic.

Actually, the best case scenario for me would be if a scene change transmits NOTHING other than what I explicitly program. I was afraid it might automatically send AllNotesOff, etc., which would not work in this setup. I'll see how far I can get with it. Thanks again.
