Hi,
I'm trying to use Geosynth to play the sounds in Sampletank via midibridge.
STATUS: Everything is connected, but the MIDI bend range of Sampletank's Alto Sax DLY (my first try) appears to be set to 2, which behaves awfully in Geosynth. Totally unusable. Unfortunate since I purchased Midibridge and Sampletank both just to use with Geosynth (the ad on the Sampletank app description says the three work together). I have used Geosynth to control other apps and it seems to behave correctly with the MIDI bend range set to 24 in most apps I have tried (e.g. Samplewiz).
PROBLEM: Sampletank ios seems to lack facility for changing MIDI bend ranges. What they set is what you get, for good or ill.
QUESTION: Is there a way, IN MIDI-BRIDGE, to alter the MIDI bend ranges coming out of sampletank from 2 to 24 so the latter range is read properly by Geosynth?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi mystagog,
I'm afraid SampleTank (iOS version) does not have the ability to alter the pitch sensitivity at all. As you say, there is nothing in the SampleTank settings to alter this.
Given that the desktop version of SampleTank responds to a MIDI RPN to set the pitchbend range, I experimented in sending the correct MIDI incantation to SampleTank to tell it to set the range. Unfortunately, this did not work and the command was ignored. That's a shame, as I could have configured MidiBridge to issue the command when required which would have solved the problem for you.
Upon further reading of the SampleTank manual they state that it only responds to a very limited set of MIDI controller commands:
005 Portamento Time 007 Volume 010 Pan 071 Filter Resonance 072 ENV 1 Release 073 ENV 1 Attack 074 Filter Cutoff Frequency
075-087 CC # 75 87 control the first 12 knobs of the effects in the Part.
091 Reverb Send Level
None of these are any use for altering the pitch bend range.
I can't think of any other way of expanding the range.
I'm sorry, but the only way to control the range is for IK to add this feature to their application. Suggest you contact them and put in a request so they can at least be aware that this feature is wanted. If others have also contacted them with the same request, then the chances of it happening will be greater.
Regards, Nic.

Thanks very much for the informative reply.
A shame this is not possible for now, especially since Sampletank actually advertises their alleged compatibility with Geo on their iTunes page, not to mention folks like me actually purchasing Sampletank on that very basis.
