This may not be the right place to ask this question, but here goes: I'm relatively proficient with StreamByter. One of my input devices is a Korg NanoPad2, and I'm comfortable that I would be able to accept inputs from its pads and test those notes to do something else. What I'd like to do is trigger sample sounds that are (preferably) also on my iPad, while I also have a few other iPad synths running (i.e., everything, including the sample-playing system, needs to be able to run in the background and be listening for their particular MIDI channels). But how to do this? I need a way to store sample sounds on the iPad in the first place, as well as a way to trigger them. I think lukesleepwalker is doing this, from an earlier thread about note length I read. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi tap , I guess any app that can trigger samples from a MIDI event would do the trick. BeatMaker? Samplr? (I still use a Roland S-7XX sampler for this, so I'm not a good person to advise) If the sounding app has a different note assignment than the Nanopad, then you can just use StreamByter to remap between the two. Regards, Nic.

Looks like SAMPLR doesn't handle inbound MIDI, but Beat Maker 3 does (and can run as a background app, which is critical). Thanks for the recommendation.

Yep, Beatmaker 3 will do the job very nicely as it is the most full featured standalone sampler on iOS. If you get into AUv3 implementation, you will want a different tool, but if standalone works, then BM3 is excellent.
