I use and enjoy using Garageband. But also have and older Drum Machine. Kinda - Boss JS-5 Jamstation like a drum machine but can use up to 4 instruments. I like the Jamstation somewhat but never got the use out of it I wanted. Due mostly to inflexible standard programing. But you can create user styles and program Note for note beat for beat using a Midi keyboard. which I do have and it does work. But I am not a drummer or keyboard player. Some guitar and Bass yes. So Trying to program note for note would be quite an undertaking for me. Call me MIDI newb if you like. Along comes Garageband The input interface is great for someone like me (MIDI newb). I can make backing tracks for myself (for guitar and vocals). Using my IPOD I can work on this During work breaks, waiting for appt's, etc. But for performing the IPOD is clumsy to use. No on the fly loop changes, song chains, start and stop. Not to mention The Jamstation has more Instrument choices, more FX, More tweekable sound.
If only I could move my created loops from the GB MIDI out (1 instrument at a time) Selecting the specific MIDI Channel I need (10 for drums, 2 for Bass etc.) into the MIDI In on the Jamstation. Best of my 2 worlds. So I look around And what do I find The IRIG MIDI interface. Boasts In and OUT Capability. Mentions Garageband by name. Leaving out the Critical info GB is does not MIDI OUT and the IRIG and its software do NOT resolve this. MIDI Newb? Yes. But how do I know what their software and device can do. I can use My MIDI Keyboard to Input into GB now, but I never cared about that. So I send an email to their Support explaining my problem. Asking what compatible IOS apps have MIDI out. Sample tank maybe (they are "including" the free version with the IRIG MIDI) almost like they recommend this app for their IN and OUT MIDI device. I do not think sample tank has MIDI OUT (the newb may be wising up). They responded by recommending I try your MIDI Bridge. I don't trust that they know what they are talking about. They don't seem sure of what does and does not work with their own stuff. But looking through your boards. I see you are helpful to your current and potential customer. And seem to know what you are talking about. In both cases more than IK multimedia (the reason they recommend you). Bottom line. Can I use the Midibridge to solve my problem and MIDI OUT GB on a selected channel to a drum machine? Or any other suggestion you may have. Thank you.
