Hi Nic, is there a way I can convert a polyphonic midi stream into mono. I.E. filtering out everything but the highest note pressed. This isn't as easy as it may seem, for example, with a trill, the previous notes received need to be remembered, even though they are turned off in the output stream. The trill will always play the highest note followed by the next highest when the top one is released.
The main reason for wanting to do this is because bass pedals are usually monophonic, with a little sustain (like on the old Hammonds) So when whipping from one note to another if you catch the odd note in between it doesn't create a terrible beating drone. Instead you get a sort of slur which sounds quite effective. Using something like SampleTank to provide bass is great except it doesn't provide a mono filter.

Hi tickboxtyrant,
I understand what you are looking for (including the 'memory' needed for held notes), but I can't think of any way of doing this using the current MidiBridge modules.
I would say that this would be a very specific module and would need to be developed. Like all feature requests, the more people that want it the more chance it will be added, so if anyone else would find such a module worthwhile, please do chime in.
Regards, Nic.

Hi Nic,
Actually I was just dreaming of what such a module that remembers the keys that are down could do for me:
What I really would love to get (for christmas) is a soft sostenuto function, like the piz midiSostenuto vst gives you
Also very nice would be a hanging notes prevention like the korg keyboards do, they send an all notes off command after the last key down goes up.
Thanks again for your essential app.
Alfred
