Hi, i was thinking into buying a Yamaha MD-BT01 bluetooth adapter to connect any gear I want to Ipad. Midi Bridge is my channel for all midi in connections and routing within Ipad. Would this Bluetooth signal recognized in Midi Bridge? Thanks for your advice!

Hi 9alex, Yes, the MD-BT01 is recognised in MidiBridge once connected - I can confirm this first hand. It (and the quicco m.1) are very handy little devices to have around. Regards, Nic.

So this means independently if a music app is prepared for bluetooth midi or not I could always route the signal with midi bridge, couldn't I? Nico, let me ask you, do you also have a Launchpad Pro ( or any Launchpad hardware with midi in and out? I was thinking to control Launchpad app with Launchpad pro + MD-BT01 but nobody at Novation have a clue if this works or not

Hi 9alex, When a bluetooth MIDI device connects, it is presented by iOS as a CoreMIDI (virtual) interface, so really any app that can operate with CoreMIDI virtual should just work. The trick is making the connection from the iDevice. You need an app that implements Apple's BT MIDI host. The only app of mine that does this is GigRig MIDI+ but I'm sure there are others (some probably even free). I have a launchpad but that only has USB MIDI so cannot connect directly to the BT01. I see the pro has DIN MIDI also but something has to power it for the MD01 to work. My understanding is that novation deliberately 'break' their launchpad app if it is not connected to a launchpad directly. Not sure how they do this (could be via USB device ID) but it may not work with the launchpad connected over bluetooth MIDI. If novation themselves don't know then the only way is to try it. If you do, please let us know how you got on. Regards, Nic.

Hi, i didnt get the part when you start with " the trick is making the connection from the iDevice". What do you mean with that? Regarding launchpad pro it comes with a charger so it can get powered by itself and MD-BT01 I understood it was powered simply from the DIN connection. So far I have not Launchpad pro neither MD-BT01 and sure will not take the risk to buy it for the exact reason you mentioned ( not sure if Launchpad app would recognize it because of this broken code)

Hi 9alex, What I mean is that an app on the iDevice needs to establish the connection to the bluetooth device before it shows up in CoreMIDI apps. I think midimittr (free app) and the KORG Bluetooth Midi Connect app do this. I understood the launchpad pro could be powered and run the BT MIDI over DIN - I just assumed you wanted the launchpad to be completely wireless. :-) Regards, Nic.

Hi, actually I dont need it to be completely wireless but allow it to be connected to my ipad without needing to use the lightning, but as you mentioned , probably this will not work as Novation wants you to be only connected through lightning. Maybe in the future they come back with a bluetooth design that can be connected to Ipad wireless.
