I downloaded the app from the App Store but was not asked to verify payment. The app did download but does not load garage band or other apps and it does not seem to have some of the features noted in the instructions.

Hi alanog, What specific features noted in the instructions do you believe are missing? Please note that GarageBand will never show up in MidiBridge since it does not advertise any virtual ports of its own. It will receive events from MidiBridge though. Regards, Nic.

Sorry but I'm all confused!
First I was not asked to very payment. Does this mean tha app is now free or have I downloaded the wrong one.
I was also seduced into thinking of this was an easy app to use by watching a you tube video called midibridge: splitting a mini controller between two apps. However I can figure out how to do this with the app I downloaded. Do I also need Audiobus?

Not at all sure about the payment thing. If you had just purchased a different app within a certain time period it won't ask you for your app store password. Although I would have thought that you would have been prompted to confirm you wanted to purchase the app. MidiBridge is not free, so I suspect you have been charged one way or the other.
You don't need Audiobus to split a MIDI controller over multiple apps.
What are you using as your controller and what apps do you want to split across?
Regards, Nic.

I have now been billed!
I am using a midi keyboard and an Irig midi connection to an IPad.. I would like to be able to split the keyboard to play piano sounds from Grand Piano or some such app with good piano sounds and string or other sounds from Garage Band or Sample Tank.

Have now figured out how to use this with Igrand piano and Sampletank. It helped to read the instructions!, however it's still not clear how to use Garage Band.

I'm really sorry. I meant to reply to this today but got caught up with something. I was going to suggest you start with just SampleTank and split across two sounds. If you have it split across iGrand and SampleTank that is even better.
Now, GarageBand is never going to play nicely with a split. This is because it reacts to all events on all channels on all ports in the system and there is no way to change this behaviour. What this means is that GB will always respond directly to your controller across the full range as well as to all notes coming out of MidiBridge regardless of channel. In short, you cannot do it with GB due to its MIDI implementation I'm sorry to say.
Regards, Nic.
