I'll admit I'm a total newbie at ALL of this, so excuse me if I'm asking some basic questions here.
My setup is:
iPad Air 2 WiFi 128GB
Apple USB Camera Kit
Plugable USB 7-port hub (newest)
iRig Keys (37)
Korg nanoKONTROL2
I quit all apps on iPad, plug in the USB, launch MidiBridge, then launch iPolysix (which I have set to background audio).
What I'm trying to do is remap the incoming MIDI from the nano so that the physical knobs correspond to the CC# of the controls on the iPolysix. For instance, I want the nano knob #3 (CC 18) to control the VCO Waveform on the iPolysix (CC 77). Now normally, I would think there would be an editor for the nano but there's not (I don't have a Mac/PC -- only an iPad), so I found MidiBridge which in the description seems like the Holy Mapper function would do what I want.
Ok so everything is connected and I go back to MidiBridge, and BEFORE I EVEN CONNECT any of the MIDI inputs to outputs in MidiBridge, I notice that the iPolysix is picking up MIDI from the nano and the iRig. That seems weird, right? I mean, logically, I would think all the MIDI would be intercepted by MidiBridge and nothing would happen until I select where I want it routed.
So anyway, huh. I connect the nano to the iPolysix, then edit the Holy Mapper in the nano side to change CC 18 to CC 77. It works, BUT I am also still getting CC 18 as well. So turning knob #3 is activating BOTH the Pitch Transpose (which is fixed to CC 18 on the iPolysix) AND CC 77 VCO Waveform.
Like I said, I'm a newbie... but this makes NO SENSE at all.
If anyone can tell me how to either reprogram the nano itself (with only an iPad) or to remap the CC# on the fly, I would appreciate it. I also bought MIDI Designer Pro and I am somewhat surprised that it cannot remap incoming MIDI to outgoing MIDI (among all of the other functions it has) -- seems like an obvious function that it should also have, but I am coming up empty handed there too.
Other software synths are not really an issue (don't need any of this MIDI software inbetween) because I can remap the MIDI within the apps (e.g. Sunrizer or Korg Gadget). iPolysix does not seem to have this ability (even though Gadget does -- weird) so I'm hoping to somehow be able to control it with the nano. Hmm.
Help?
Ben
