It used to be Midibus was in my top 5 favorite apps. I was like my DAW almost; I synced all my hardware, and all my other noise making apps with it easy as pie.
But now, I cannot get Beatmaker 2 to follow Midibus like I used to; I set BM2 to clock receive, also, I set the Midibus input in BM2 to on and the output to off (I don't remember having to do this before). Then I start Midibus running with a tempo of 90, and BM2 goes crazy, locking it's tempo at 188! (the reason I don't go to their forums is they are now all about BM3 and can't be arsed with questions about BM2). If I leave the inputs in BM2 alone, like I'm pretty sure I used to, Midibus will not start at all.
So I bought Midifire and tried that. Alas, BM2 follows that like it should, like it used to do with Midibus. But working with Midifire just to use it as a MIDI clock app is a pain. You can't change the tempo while it is running. And you have to use the pop up iOS standard QWERTY keyboard to change the tempo (what is up with that?).
So I bought Midiflow and tried that. It pops up a a nice big numeric keypad like Midibus, but it is just a useless buggy crash fest waste of a MIDI clock app.
I don't know if the problem is with BM2 or Midibus, but I'm almost sure BM2 didn't get an update since it worked fine with Midibus. I can't remember if my working Midibus got updated accidentally. I'm using v1.51 on one device and v1.52 on the other. They both behave the same way. One thing I've learned with all iOS apps, if it works, do never let it update.
So now I'm stuck with Midifire as the only MIDI clock app that works with BM2. It is better than nothing.
You guys are pretty much done with Midibus and all about Midifire now. So really all I can do is ask: Please, please make the midi clock "block" in Midifire as easy to use as Midibus was. A big numeric keypad, and so you change the tempo with everything running, like you could with Midibus. Please just make the thing operate like Midibus! Thank you, and sorry to whine. All I can do now is hope and wait.
