Hi Nick,
i have Digitakt, midi keyboard controller, AUM and apps.
Can I hookup apps in AUM via MidiFire, so everything is in sync, especially with apps that have a sequencer?
Are you you going to update MIDIBRIDGE? To iOS 11? I would like to get the bundle. If I get MF can I later add MB?
Are there any other videos on hardware/iPad configurations for MidiFire/Ipad?
it says iOS + Mac? I have Windows š
thanks

Hi faster , If the apps slave to MIDI clock, you can use MidiFire to be the master clock, but on an iOS device many apps sync using Ableton LINK these days so if all your apps are LINK aware then you probably don't need MidiFire and you can do your MIDI routing inside AUM. I cannot update MidiBridge for iOS11 as it relies on third party libraries that are 32 bit only. MidiFire does (almost) everything MidiBridge can do MIDI-wise. The bundle is designed to allow existing MidiBridge users to get MidiFire at a discount. You can do it the other way around, but only if you need MidiBridge on an older device for some reason. Regards, Nic.

Thanks for replying Nic.
Many apps that I like have midi in/out, so no problem there and your MF app does a lot more than just sync,....(watching the videos).
How is the switching between apps? Tim talks about it, but I didnāt actually see it. Can I click on āsomethingā and the app will open?
Can I use MidiFire with Digitakt<>iPadā connected with MIDI cable? (I have Ipad connected with Alesis midi hub with CCK cable and midi in/out to Digitakt.)
Is there a tutorial on setup with external hardware and iOS apps?
Regards , faster .............(Iām reading the manual)

Hi faster, In terms of app switching, I have had to forego that in MidiFire due to difficulties with recent releases of iOS - that video is really quite old (if you mean the one I am thinking about). Yes, should be no problem hooking up your Digitakt to the iPad vi Alesis/CCK. External hardware is simply shown in the main dropdown menu (top left, + sign). If your hardware is recognised an entry will be listed there; one input and one output (usually). Just touch them to 'drop' them onto the canvas to connect up. Regards, Nic.

Hi Nic
thanks for reply. I have no problem using iPad with Digitakt. Maybe I should have explain better. Problem is syncing apps that have MIDI capability (and sequencer or Arp) to external hardware. Not only playing notes, that I can do with the Alesis IO.
I load apps in AUM, because itās the only āplatformā where I can add FX in chain etc...(you know)
I need a MIDI platform where I can load apps, add FX in line, connect them, enable syncing from external clock and play. That simple. Program change can be done in Digitakt.
Is midifire a platform where I load apps, connect them with virtual wire and hit play on Digitakt and it works? Without additional scripting etc? I just need something simple with access to apps, (without clicking on home button, reopening, closing etc)....all on ONE page.
I donāt want Bluetooth or Link. I need midi. Does MIDIFIRE do this? (In the video, Tim Webb talks about switching apps but I didnāt see him doing that. Does clicking on the modules open the app thatās loaded in? Can i use Midifire only?
Thank you you in advance.

Hi faster , You could use MidiFire in parallel with AUM; one for MIDI connections and the other for audio connections. - First load up the apps in AUM and set up your audio - Now switch to MidiFire and you should see each of the loaded apps' virtual input and output ports in the menu that you can add to the canvas and connect up. You could then send PC messages to both MidiFire and AUM simultaneously to change scenes on each. However, really you can do the routing just as easily in AUM also. Unless you want to perform transformations on the MIDI that AUM doesn't do then you may not need MidiFire at all. You are going to find that in terms of syncing to MIDI clock (driven from either an external clock or internal from an app) it is going to be hit and miss with each app you use. It's really hard to do incoming sync well from a developer point of view and many apps either don't do it at all, or do it poorly. This is why I suggested looking into apps that have Ableton Link support. It might be a better idea using an app like 'MIDI Link Sync' that will convert incoming MIDI clock to outgoing Ableton Link to keep all your apps in sync loaded into AUM. Regards, Nic.

Hi Nic,
I got things going thanks to you and Midi Link Sync. Iāll experiment with it and see.
Kind regards
