HeyNic,
Some questions as I setup MidiFire between a keyboard as a dumb controller for an external sound module. I used to use MidiBridge, and now I’m finally finding the time to make the jump ; )
1) I find that I have to first filter out a lot of the “junk” that can come over from the keyboard, mainly the midi clock messages. In MidiBridge I think I could choose to block “Time/Song” events, but now in MidiFire I’m not entirely certain what the equivalent would be. Could you provide some guidance here?
2) What I would like to do is set up 16 channel strips within a scene, each corresponding to the 16 channels setup in my sound module’s performance, and be able to play just each channel by toggling on/off each channel strip. For example, I could play each channel individually by having just a single strip ON, or I could layer multiple sounds based on what channels I had ON at any moment.
So far, I’ve connected all the channels in series, at which point I could play one of the channels depending on what’s selected at the end. Layering this way isn’t possible, which is a bummer...
I find that I could get the layering working IF I could change the default behavior of a channel strip when OFF to be disconnecting rather than transparent, at which point I can connect the channels between the in/out in parallel and just select the channels that I need. Otherwise I suppose I could add a Protocol filter after each strip and toggle the filter instead of the strip (I actually just thought of this while typing this message, need to test if that will work!) but at that point things will get pretty messy...
So, am I on the right track as to what I want to do? Would you consider adding a feature to change the default behavior when a strip is toggled OFF, such that the strip would essentially disconnect rather than going transparent? You could make it turn red to some degree to show it’s disconnected, for example. Just a thought...
Thanks!
