I'm trying to solve (workaround) a particular problem involving an FCB1010 (w/EurekaPROM) being pressed into service to control an RC-505 looper that maybe could be addressed by Robotic Knob? As has been documented by others (outside this board) the 505 has an issue with the 1010 pedal messages. Regardless of whether the source (1010) or destination (505) is send/receive in Momentary or Toggle mode, the 505 executes a pedal command once, and once only, until the device is reset. Those 'others' out there have solved the problem using Bome's Midi Translator to append/create an event value=0 for every value=127 (Press-down) and delayed by approx 30-100ms (depending on whose solution you're looking at).
Rather than buy another piece of hardware (Bomes) I'm trying for a sw solution. So, I bought MidiFire (for this and other reasons) and I'm looking at Robotic Knob, can anyone confirm that it should be possible to receive a CC event of value=127 and generate a corresponding CC event of value=0...and be able to offset that in time by x milliseconds? And have both events output in sequence? From reading the instructions it seems I can trigger the event value=0 easily enough from a value=127 input, but can use the Smoothing speed parameter to delay that event?
Before I get into the weeds setting the parameters, does that sound like a legitimate use-case for Robotic Knob?
Having asked that question, I want to note one particular detail that might change the case? When I monitor the midi stream coming from the 1010, I'm noticing that in Momentary mode, both the Press and Release of the pedal send the same cc-message. In Momentary that value is 127 at all times. In Toggle it is first 127, with the 2nd press/release they become 0. Obviously, I'm using Momentary mode. But if there was a way to 'grab' that 2nd iteration (ie the Release) of value=127 and convert it to value=0, that would eliminate requiring any programmed delay because the Release is dependent on the actual foot movement of the operator (which will ALWAYS be >100ms).
Thanks in advance for any insights with this. (I also have my eye on Streambyter, btw, if this requires a more sophisticated approach)
