Hi Nic, Do you think someone who knows what they are doing (not me) could be able to compile a AUv3 MIDI FX version of Stochas (stochas.org) from their open source binaries? I was reading their github while bummed that Stochas dont work in MidiFire. And saw some chatter that made me hopeful. Unfortunately i dont understand enough of these things. Or are these sequencer type of plugins fundamentally not going to run as "effect" plugings inside Midifire. Here are some of the things they were saying. "It looks like we are not building AUv3 (there are two options in JUCE AU and AUv3) so I assume we are AU v2 but not 100% certain. Either way, it seems like you should be able to pick up the AU version." "You might try playing with the IS_SYNTH and IS_MIDI_EFFECT. We had to set them one way for Logic, but might have adverse affect in this situation." github.com/surge-synthesizer/stochas/issues/31

Hi adsr , MidiFire expects AUv3 and IS_MIDI_EFFECT (assuming the latter means Apple's 'aumi' MidiEffect type), so if someone built a plug it should in theory load. Sequencer type plugs can work in MidiFire - you just drop the Dynamic Clock module onto the canvas (no need to connect) and starting/stopping should also run the AU transport in the plugins. Regards, Nic.

yeah thats how i figured it would work with there being clock/trasport module and all. its just that sequencer AU plugs that i have wanted to play with arent v3! grrrr :X Im assuming midifire only supports AUv3 MIDI FX because zero latency hosting, like you wrote here, --> audeonic.boards.net/thread/719/midifire-zero-latency-auv3-hosting ...is not possible with other plugin formats or other AU versions. Is that correct assumption?

Hi adsr , Actually I did originally manage to get MidiFire supporting AUv2 (sorry I didn't realise you were talking about mac) but found that the AUv3/AUv2 bridging was not as reliable as I would have liked (mainly UI support), so rather than try and deal with unhappy customers who said plugin 'X' doesn't work, I just decided to only support AUv3 and only MIDI FX since I did not want to run an audio engine. ;-) I think I was able to get zero latency working with AUv2 too, but a bit hazy on this. Regards, Nic.
