Hello Nic,
I'm thinking of using MidiBus but I would like to know if there's a way to control these start/stop/continue from 3 buttons on a midi controller ? Also , in that case does the app can run background ?
Idealy, I would like to sync with LaunchPad App from Novation (known to have no midi clock at the moment) and Cubasis, and/or Loopy.
Thanks for you help !

Hi crony, The MidiBus app will indeed run in the background and will respond to the MIDI start/stop/continue commands if they are received on any of the monitored inputs (on the monitor panel). If your controller does not send start/stop/continue (FA, FB and FC MIDI events) then you can use MidiBridge to remap your controller's button events to the right message. For that you can use the technique in MidiBridge described here although you don't need to worry about the SPP (1st rule). If you need specific rules for your device let me know what you are using to trigger the messages and I will try and get you the correct rules. Regards, Nic.

Ha thanks Nic ! I'll buy your app this evening and test that ... Hmm, one last question, is it also possible to map the tempo to a knob ? or an expression pedal ? I would love to play with the tempo also... Maybe an external pad should be assigned to a tap tempo also ?

Hi crony,
Mapping tempo, not currently. It is on the list for a future enhancement.

Ok I bought the App, but it seems 1.8 version of Cubasis is not allowing start/stop...(even if it does internally, but you must push the butons into the app itself...) It does not work for me, maybe I'm doing something wrong ?

Hi crony,
I just tried Cubasis and unfortunately it does not honour MIDI start/stop commands at all. I tried a few different options but I could not make it behave.
Generally if you are using Cubasis it needs to be the master clock in any case since it cannot sync to incoming clock either. This means you have to set Cubasis as master and use the Cubasis transport app buttons - no remote control. Cubasis master clock is OK - not quite as accurate as MidiBus though.
With Loopy - is it running at double speed by any chance? Maybe it is receiving two sets of clock ticks. The best policy is in 3rd party apps where possible set things up so they only listen to MidiBus and in MidiBus itself, only send clock to MidiBus (deselect all other apps so they have a red X in the Transport panel). It's important to make sure each app only receives one copy of the clock.
Regards, Nic.
